Unexpected Return In Merlin Series 5

Death is never an obstacle in sci-fi and fantasy, so perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised that Uther – played by Anthony Head – will be returning for Merlin series 5 .

The revelation was announced by Merlin co-creator and executive producer Johnny Capps at San Diego Comic-Con , and later confirmed on the show’s official Twitter feed.

“Uther returns in a very unexpected way," Capps told AssignmentX.com , "and returns in Arthur’s life where he’s missing his father and he needs some advice and in a moment of weakness, and he is able to contact Uther.”

Johnny Capps also told the site that while the producers were in conversations about series six with the BBC, the show could alternatively become a trilogy of movies after series five.

“We’re hopefully going to do a trilogy – three movies. We will focus on them when we finish series five. One idea we’ve been playing around with is to reboot the whole series. We would go back in time and start the story again and show different parts that you didn’t see in the series. The other idea is to do a continuation, but we haven’t decided yet.”
