Stephen Sommers To Direct Odd Thomas

The GI Joe and The Mummy helmer will bring Dean R Koontz’s supernatural thriller to the big screen with Anton ( Star Trek ) Yelchin in the lead

ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that The Mummy and Van Helsing director Sommers is set to direct a big screen adaptation of Koontz’s 2003 novel Odd Thomas , about a dysfunctional twenty-something cook who can see, but not hear, the dead, and who can name a spectral Elvis Presley among his associates. Although the book’s basic plot concerns a man who is being followed by a large supernatural beings who portend death – leading Odd Thomas to believe that he will be at the centre of some major catastrophe – the book is also a study of the fractured upbringing that makes Odd Thomas the man he is. Not exactly the kind of full throttle, action-packed, eye candy that flicks the Vs at subtlety we’ve come to expect from Sommers.

Star Trek ’s Anton Yelchin is pencilled in for the lead role.
