First trailer lands for True Detective season 2

The first teaser trailer has arrived online for True Detective season 2. And while it doesn’t give too much away in terms of plot specifics, it does a very nice line in creating an atmosphere…

The new series will be headed up by Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell. Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a career criminal turned property magnate whose business partner mysteriously turns up dead. Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a cop on the edge charged with looking into the case.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

As was the case in series one, True Detective does love to assemble a cast of tortured souls, with Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams also set to join the show’s illustrious line of morally conflicted law enforcers. They’ll have plenty to live up to after Woody Harrelsomn and Matthew McConaughey, but this first trailer looks more than promising…

With the first two episodes of the show to be directed by Justin Lin, and series creator Nic Pizzolatto also back on board, True Detective season 2 will premiere on HBO on 21 June 2015. A UK air date has yet to be confirmed.
