The X-Files is officially back for a limited series

After a short gestation period, Fox has officially given the greenlight to another season of The X-Files. Six brand new episodes will head into production this summer, for what’s being dubbed as a continuation of the show’s story.

Series creator Chris Carter is back at the helm along with returning stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Both are set to reprise their respective roles as iconic duo Mulder and Scully.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” says Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

The original series debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons and two movies. It spawned a huge cult fanbase eager to unravel the show’s never-ending mysteries.

With half a dozen episodes now at Carter’s disposal, expect the truth to be uncovered once and for all....
