And it’s being directed by the guy who made that Mortal Kombat short film that swept the internet a while back

Remember Mortal Kombat: Rebirth? It was that impressive short film, directed by Kevin Tancharoen, which swept the internet last year that the choreographer/director made to show his vision for a new Mortal Kombat film.

Well, he hasn’t quite convinced a major studio to part with money to let him create a movie, but he is is calling the shots on a new live action digital Mortal Kombat series that’ll go on sale online.

Warner Premiere has announced that it is developing the digital Mortal Kombat series, which will take gamers deep into the history of warriors they know and love such as Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Liu Kang. It will coincide with the release of a new Mortal Kombat game. Shooting will take place in Vancouver starting in early February. Available this spring through online digital retailers from Warner Bros Digital Distribution, the Mortal Kombat digital series is an anthology of multiple live action shorts, each providing never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game’s universe. Additional details, including casting, will be announced in the coming weeks.
