David S. Goyer is set to return to Superman’s homeworld, with Syfy officially working with the writer / producer on brand new prequel series, Krypton.
According to THR, the series will follow Superman’s grandfather ,“as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known.”
The report goes on to describe the new series as being “in the same vein” as Gotham, a ratings smash for Fox, despite being somewhat on the silly side, tonally speaking.
FlashForward alumni Ian Goldberg is also on board to pen the script and executive produce alongside Goyer, with the duo having come up with the core idea together.
Krypton is currently in development, with no air date confirmed at this stage. Hopefully there will be at least one winged dragon-creature in the mix when it does finally arrive…
