Ghost Recon: Future Soldier dated for March 2012

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been confirmed for a March 2012 release date by Ubisoft. The confirmation follows a host of retailers including Amazon, Wal-Mart and Best Buy all coincidentally tagging listings for the title with the same launch date of March 6. Ubisoft has previously confirmed it aims to deliver a beta of the title in January of next year.

The listings – as well as the beta date – focus on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. While Future Soldier's also set to release on PSP, Wii and DS, don't be surprised if the release dates for these platforms leave a little wriggle-room. Future Soldier, originally intended as the fourth numbered entry in the Ghost Recon series, is being developed in-house at Ubisoft Paris, with Wii and PSP versions being handled by Next Level and Virtuos respectively. Are you hanging out for the next entry in the long-running Tom Clancy family of franchises? Or by March of next year, might the BF3/MW3 one-two punch have left you all army-manned out?

Well, AAA games release before Christmas so they're bought as gifts or with money from gifts, but it is reaching a point of saturation. A number of these games, with their calibre and following, could release at any point in the year and pick up as many, or likely more, sales than they would pre-Christmas. I think the same goes for March releases, let people ease off the Christmas spending and look at their games next, so January and February aren't great for that. I don't understand why there aren't more releases in June or July, considering it's a pretty sizeable wasteland that could be filled.

Nice release date, let it compete with Mass Effect 3, and Max Payne 3. Is there a reason January, and February have no major releases whatsoever? Did everyone just decide they should release their games in the same week? Let the next game in the suffering Ghost Recon franchise have space to breathe, no one's gonna go to the store and by three games at once. The same thing is happening this year on November 15th, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Need for Speed The Run, Saint's Row 3, and Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary all come out. Four AAA release's that will have to compete with each other for sales, not to mention MW 3, Eldar Scrolls V, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, and whatever else is coming out in the next 2 months. Its just idiotic of these companies. If Ghost Recon came out in February, or even late April, it could increase their sales exponentially.

I don't even remember the last time I heard any news about this game. It look kind of cool from the old gameplay demonstrations.
