Lucy Lawless signs on for Ash vs. Evil Dead

STARZ has added another big name to its forthcoming Evil Dead TV show, with Lucy Lawless officially confirmed to co-star alongside Bruce Campbell.

Lawless will play a character known as Ruby in Ash vs. Evil Dead, described as "a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks."

Sounds like a useful ally for Ash in his ongoing battle with the Deadites, save for one small issue… she thinks he's to blame for the whole thing.

Sam Raimi will be directing the opening episode of the new series, before moving into an executive producer capacity alongside Robert Tapert. Lawless had previously collaborated with the pair on small-screen hits Xena and Spartacus.

The new series will be made up of ten hour-long episodes, and will premiere on STARZ later towards the end of the year. An official air date has yet to be confirmed.
