Beauty And The Beast To Return To TV?

The CW to reboot the 1980s Linda Hamilton/Ron Perlman series

The CW network in the States is developing a reboot of the classic telefantasy series Beauty And The Beast , according to The Hollywood Reporter .

The original series, which ran for three series from 1987, starred Linda Hamilton as Catherine and Ron Perlman as Vincent, the sewer-dwelling beast. It was part police procedural part romance, and very popular. It was created by Ron Koslow and, trivia hounds, listed George RR Martin ( Game Of Thrones ) among its writers and producers.

Brothers And Sisters producing team Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper are attached to write the project and executive produce alongside Paul Witt, C Anthony Thomas, Ron Koslow and Bill Haber.

But could there be a battle of the beasts on the cards? Mere weeks ago, rival network ABC announced that it was also developing a new version of the fairy tale, though theirs sounds even more squarely in the fantasy genre. With Gary Fleder and Mary Beth Basile attached as exec producers, it is described as an epic fantasy reimagining about a girl forced to live with a beast in a castle who ultimately falls in love with him.
