Skyfall Writer And Director Team Up Again For Vampire Hunter TV Show

Skyfall director Sam Mendes and screenwriter John Logan developing a new TV show about a vampire, reports Deadline .

The site described it as, “an origin story set in the 1800s London in the vein of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen . The Logan/Mendes project features such characters as Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein as they hunt for vampires.”

There is no network attached as yet but the pitch has been sent out to “premium cable networks” – so if FX or HBO pick it up (we’re crossing our fingers) expect, expect lots of gore. If the pilot is given the green light, Logan would write the script with Mendes attached to produce and possibly direct.

Mendes is also famous for directing such films as American Beauty , Jarhead and Road To Perdition , while Logan’s scriptwriting CV includes Hugo , Rango , Gladiator , Star Trek: Nemesis and the remake of The Time Machine .

Vampires are as popular as ever with TV execs, it seems. Babylon 5 creator J Michael Straczynski is also developing a period drama for TV based on Dracula for Starz.
