Elodie Yung joins Daredevil as Elektra

Big news for fans of Daredevil this morning, with Marvel confirming that Elektra will appear in the show's second season, and also revealing that Matt Murdock's occasional love interest will be played by G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Elodie Yung.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Elektra Natchiosis is a trained assassin who often assumes an antihero role throughout the comic books. A brief reference was made to the character in the first series when Foggy calls back to the "smoking' hot" Greek girl Matt was dating back in college…

"After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity," says Jeph Loeb, Marvel TV's head honcho. "Paired with Charlie [Cox] as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."

Yung will join fellow new addition Jon Bernthal for the second series, with the latter having already signed on to play The Punisher. The second series of Daredevil will land on Netflix at some point in 2016.
