Monsters Triumphs At British Independent Film Awards

Picks up three awards, including Best Director for Gareth Edwards

The brilliant, low-budget, British SF movie Monsters has picked up three prizes at BIFA (the Moet British Independent Film Awards). The winners of the 13th awards were announced at the glittering ceremony held at Old Billingsgate which was hosted by James Nesbitt. Where there was lots of Moet flowing, if the pics are anything to go by.

Although it failed to nab Best British Independent Film – that went to The King’s Speech Monsters ’ director Gareth Edwards did pick up the prestigious Best Director award, and – because he had multiple roles on the film – also had the unique honour of also picking up the award for best special FX (or Best Technical Achievement as it was actually named). The other prize that went the film’s way was Best Achievement In Production.
