First trailer arrives for 21 Jump Street

Fans of sweary, puerile, buddy-cop action are in for a treat as the first red band trailer for police comedy 21 Jump Street comes effing and blinding its way onto the web.

Based on the ’80s TV show of the same name, the movie stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as a pair of newly qualified coppers who volunteer to go undercover at the local high school in order to help bust a ring of drug dealers.

Take a look at the trailer here…

Clocking in at over three minutes, it’s certainly a trailer from the “show the entire plot” school of promotion, but thankfully there are a healthy amount of belly laughs to justify the extended running time. The sequence in which Tatum attempts to explain the Miranda rights had us chuckling away several times over.

The film can boast a talented supporting cast including James Franco, Rob Riggle, Ellie Kemper and a pleasingly foul-mouthed Ice Cube (“You are here because you some Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus lookin’ motherfuckers”). Hill and Scott Pilgrim writer Michael Bacall wrote the script whilst Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs pair Phil Lord and Chris Hill are the film’s co-directors.

21 Jump Street arrives in UK screens on 16 March 2012.
