Daredevil showrunner talks up chances of a second series

With Netflix about to unveil its first Marvel collaboration in the form of Daredevil, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has been looking to the future and discussing the possibility of a second series with Collider. And while DeKnight stops short of confirming a second run, he’s definitely hopeful…

“I have absolutely no idea,” says DeKnight when asked whether Matt Murdock will be granted a second bite at the cherry. “No matter what show you do, there’s always a possibility of a second season. Nothing’s been talked about, nothing’s been decided. If I had my druthers, would we do a second season? Sure, I think it would warrant it.”

“In regards to The Defenders and how that works, I think it would work pretty much like the movies. You could do season 1 of Daredevil, you do season 2, and depending on where the other shows fall, you might get second season of Jessica Jones… There’s really no way of telling, it’s really a grand experiment.”

Much will depend on viewing figures, naturally, but we don’t see why Netflix and Marvel wouldn’t want to press on with this, particularly if there are no plans to move the franchise back to the big screen. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the arrival of series one, with all 13 episodes set to become available on 10 April 2015.
