Director Confirmed For The Crow Reboot

The film will focus on the same character from the original Crow movie, Eric Draven

Relativity Media has announced that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will be calling the shots on the new big screen version of The Crow . Production is expected to swing into action in the autumn.

Fresnadillo will collaborate with a yet-to-be announced writer on the screenplay, which will focus on the character of Eric Draven, the central figure from the original film (subsequent Crow films have featured different characters becoming the supernatural avenger).

“Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is an incredibly talented and imaginative filmmaker,” says executive producer Tucker Tooley. “We are thrilled to have him at the helm and are excited to work with both Pressman and Apaches on what we all believe will be a compelling and innovative reimagining of The Crow ."

“The original Crow was groundbreaking cinema,” overstates producer Edward R Pressman. “Its gothic visual and musical ideas influenced a generation and cinema itself. With Juan Carlos, we have every confidence that his new Crow will have a similar impact on the contemporary audience.”

Originally a 1989 comic book miniseries by James O’Barr, The Crow spawned four feature films and a television series (all adhering to the law of diminishing returns in terms of quality). The reboot was at one point going to be directed by Stephen Norrington who departed the project in October.
