Brian – son of Jim – Henson to direct a Happytime Murders , a dark thriller with puppets
A dark comedy thriller mixing live actors with puppets that has been in development at The Jim Henson Company for a couple of years now, has finally been given the green light by a major distributor
Lionsgate has picked the “risky” Happytime Murders , a film noir detective tale using puppets which has been developed from Henson’s Puppet Up! – Uncensored stage shows, aimed at adults. Itakes place in a world where humans and puppets coexist, with puppets viewed as second-class citizens. When the puppet cast of 1980s children's TV show The Happytime Gang are murdered one-by-one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet with a drinking problem (of course) takes the case with his former human partner.
The film will be directed by Brian – son of Jim – Henson, who will also produce with his sister Lisa.
So, what do you think of Muppets for adults? Any ideas for characters?
