Firefly stars Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are prepping for another sci-fi jaunt in forthcoming web series Con Man. The former Serenity captain and pilot intend to finance through a crowd-funding campaign set up over at Indiegogo.
Tudyk will write, produce and star in the show that follows the life of Wray Nerely, a former sci-fi actor who rose to success on a sci-fi series called Spectrum.
As Wray’s career fails to lift off following the show’s cancelation, he finds himself trotting out his schtick on the convention circuit, while his co-star and best friend Jack Moore - played by Fillion - finds himself propelled to megastardom.
Con Man is described as “a light-hearted take on the personalities, luminaries, comic book stores, and characters they have run into during their years in the sci-fi community and convention circuit, while telling the story of a guy learning to love and embrace his fans.”
Hoping to raise $425,000 via the Con Man campaign, at the time of writing their efforts have skyrocketed past their initial goal, and now sit at $705,000. Incentives to donate include a list of perks ranging from signed posters, t-shirts to executive producer credits.
