ITV gives the green light to new Jekyll & Hyde TV show

ITV has announced that it has commissioned Jekyll & Hyde, a new action adventure series based on the characters created by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The show has been written by former Fast Show lynchpin, Charlie Higson, and will apparently include elements of mystery, fantasy, horror and sci-fi.

According to the official blurb, the show will be set in 1930’s London and will pick up with troubled hero, Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor.

A newly qualified doctor living with his foster parents in India, young Jekyll is totally oblivious to the condition he has inherited, until his out of control alter-ego starts to force its way onto the surface…

"It’s an exciting challenge to take Stevenson’s work and use it as the basis for a new Jekyll & Hyde," says Higson. “So many superheroes with secret dual personalities have been brought to life thanks to Jekyll & Hyde."

No casting has been confirmed as yet, but Being Human's Colin Teague is on board to direct, with production set to get underway in January 2015. An official air date has also yet to be confirmed...
