Steven Spielberg To Direct Robopocalypse

Based on an as-yet-unpublished post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel. With robots. Presumably it’ll be more than Terminator without the time-travel.

Steven Spielberg will be directing an adaptation of post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel Robopocalypse as his next project after the war film War Horse .

Exploring the fate of the human race following a robot uprising, Robopocalypse has been adapted by former Angel / Buffy and Cloverfield scripter Drew Goddard from an as yet-unpublished novel by Daniel H Wilson. Wilson has a Ph.D. in robotics, and made a name for himself writing robot-centered self-help guide How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion (which is also in development as a movie at Paramount).

Robopocalypse embodies an imaginative story of a robot rebellion unleashed against the human race,” said Mark Sourian, co-president of production for DreamWorks. “This is a project we immediately sparked to and with Steven directing it we knew it was in the best possible hands to bring it to worldwide audiences.”
