AMC orders pilot of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldbergs Preacher TV show

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s small-screen Preacher adaptation is up and running, with AMC ordering a pilot episode, with a view to commissioning an entire series.

Based on Garth Ennis’ cult comic-book, the new show will follow the exploits of Jesse Custer, the titular preacher with a host of powers, as he attempts to track down an absentee God…

Preacher has been our favorite comic since it first came out,” reads an official statement from Rogen and Goldberg. “Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it’s an incredible honour to be working on this. We promise we won’t make too many dick jokes and ruin it.”

The duo will be working on the new series alongside showrunner Sam Catlin, who AMC know well from his sterling work on Breaking Bad.

“Thanks to AMC for completely losing their minds and letting us do this,” said Catlin. “I’m so excited to bring Garth Ennis’ bloody, amazing and bloody amazing universe to TV.”

Rogen and Goldberg are also planning to direct the pilot, scheduled for 2015, ahead of series consideration in 2016. Let’s hope they can pull it off, and get a full show off the ground sooner rather than later.
