Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly officially confirmed for True Detective season 2

After weeks and months of rumours, HBO has finally moved to confirm some of the supporting players for True Detective season 2, with Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly all joining the hit show.

McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides, “a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.”

Meanwhile, Kitsch is Paul Woodrugh, “a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.”

Reilly will play the ex-actress wife of Vince Vaughn’s criminal kingpin, who will lead the show opposite Colin Farrell's conflicted and compromised detective.

Justin Lin is set to direct the first two episodes of the new series, with filming already underway in California. The show is expected to air in the US next year, with an exact date to be confirmed.
