Emily Blunt to star in The Girl On The Train

Dreamworks is moving forward with its big screen adaptation of literary sensation The Girl On The Train, with Variety reporting that Emily Blunt is deep in negotiations to star as the film's leading lady.

The film will adapt Paula Hawkins' wildly successful novel, which spent 13 weeks on top of the New York Times bestseller list earlier this year. For those unfamiliar with the story, it follows alcoholic divorcee Rachel, who travels past the same clutch of cosy suburban houses every day on her way to work. However, one of those journeys leads her to witness something shocking in one of said homes, and it isn't long before Rachel is up to her neck in a situation that's rapidly spiraling out of control.

Tate Taylor is directing the film, with Dreamworks hoping to move on production ASAP in order to capitalise on the book's popularity. No release date has been confirmed as yet, but with Blunt soon to be officially confirmed, expect that to change in due course…
