There was a time when it seemed like Coyote vs Acme would never make it to the screen. Shelved by Warner Bros. in 2023 as part of a tax write-off, the film was eventually sold to a new distributor in Ketchup Entertainment in 2025.
Now, it seems revenge is even sweeter for the movie as it has debuted to rave reviews from critics. Currently sitting at a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score at 95%, early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.
Time Out gave it four stars, writing: "Slamming the funny bone with the force of a plunging piano, this berserk comedy is like swallowing a sausage-string of TNT. In other words, it's an absolute blast."
Meanwhile, Indie Wire's Kate Erbland concluded: "The truth is: the film is good. Clever and snappy, fresh and silly, a winning combination of classic Looney Tunes gags and contemporary concerns."
IGN was similarly glowing in their review, writing: "It’s a savvy mix of absurd humor, a satirical, meta-subplot, and just enough emotional weight to make us care about these short-form animated punching bags for a full feature-length runtime."
"It’s a pleasure to report that the film is a hilarious delight, one of the best live-action/animation films ever, and will be treasured by Looney Tunes fans (and who isn’t one?)," agreed The Hollywood Reporter's Frank Sheck.
The only negative reviews we could spot came from Variety, who called the film "neutered and tame", and Screen Daily, which called out the "lacklustre screenplay."
Directed by Dave Green, the movie follows Wile E. Coyote as he finally fights back after a career of being blown to pieces. He teams up with an accident lawyer played by Will Forte as they take on ACME, Inc. and its corporate counsel played by John Cena.
