While we're all still thinking about Star Wars Battlefront's season pass potentially making it a $150 game if you want it all, DICE has revealed three new core modes shipping with the main game.
First up is Hero Hunt, an interesting 7v1 asymmetrical experience. One player starts as a 'hero', and the seven other players have to hunt them down. With whoever lands the killing blow getting to take over. So far Darth Vadar, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett have been revealed, although it looks like Han Solo, Princess Leia and the Emperor are Star Wars Battlefront characters as well. That mode will vary according to each characters unique abilities - Vadar's a nightmare in enclosed spaces for example, as most people have already learned from the beta.
Next up is Cargo, a 6v6 capture the flag mode (using 'cargo' instead of flags). The twist here is that you don't need your own flag to score, it's just about scooping up all the points you can. To help balance this there's an odd scoring system where the game starts at five all to both teams and points are then added and subtracted in unison as teams score. So a single piece of cargo is worth 1 to you and -1 to the other side.
Finally, there's Droid Run. It's a territories type thing where you have to capture three points on the map but these points are actually three droids wandering the map. The winner is the first to capture and hold all three. It's another 6v6 mode and uses small maps deliberately to maximise the carnage.
