Amazon's getting in on game streaming (and with some decent games)

Amazon has netted an exclusive partnership with video game rental service GameFly for a service that will stream current-gen games to your television via the Amazon Fire TV. The service - simply called "GameFly Streaming" - is available via the Amazon Fire TV App store starting today, and offers more than 35 games at launch.

Rather than have customers pay one fee for all-you-can-game streaming however, GameFly Streaming breaks up their service into “packs,” which are sorted by genre and cost $6.99 each. The "Action Pack," for example, contains games like Sleeping Dogs and Red Faction: Armageddon. The "Adventure Pack" contains games such as the Batman: Arkham series and Darksiders 2. The exception to the rule is the "Gamer Pack," which contains more games than any other pack, and costs $9.99 per month instead of $6.99.

Of course, you’re going to need a controller to play those games with. The GameFly Streaming FAQ suggests using the $39.99 Amazon Fire TV game controller, but also notes that Xbox 360, Logitech F-310 or Logitech F-710 controllers are also compatible.
