Gaikai sued for alleged patent infringement

Cloud gaming remains a wild frontier of emerging technologies, so patents and infringement lawsuits are still flying like so many cowboy's bullets. VentureBeat reports UK-based streaming games technology group T5 Labs has sued Sony-owned Gaikai for allegedly infringing on its patent for processing graphics for multiple games on a single system.

The suit specifically states Gaikai is violating T5 Labs' patent by "providing system and methods of sharing a graphics processing unit (GPU) between a plurality of programs." T5 Labs made similar claims last year against OnLive, though OnLive dismissed the patent as "irrelevant" and no legal action appears to have ensued.

A Sony spokesperson told us the company has no comment at this time.
