I would cast Andy Dick as Joel because he would bring the gravitas that the role requires

Matthew McConaughey. He may have started out in dopey and dumb romantic comedies, but he has proven he can play roles that initially seem to be unsuited for him. True Detective has proven he can pull off the southern drawl. Just picture him with a scraggly beard, carrying around some scissors with tape around them, and telling Ellie to "Get down". He would make a great Joel.

Jeff Brydges would be badass, not only can he be hilarious, he's proven to be a hell of a dramatic, dark actor as well. He might be a bit older, but hey, doesn't have to be spot on.

Clearly the best answer is Charlie Day, because Charlie Day should be in all the movies. His voice and cadence as an actor would be PERFECT for Joel.
  • Wavy Ranchero - March 8, 2014 12:04 a.m.

    Morgan Freeman, because Morgan Freeman.
  • Shigeruken - March 7, 2014 10:25 p.m.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan! He played John Winchester in the first few seasons of Supernatural. John is the father of the two main characters (Sam and Dean) and became a hunter of monsters after his wife was killed by a Demon. Morgan rarely lands big roles, but he's one of the most talented actors I've ever seen. John Winchester and Joel are eerily similar characters, so I think Morgan would be perfect.

    He even looks like Joel:
  • GOD - March 7, 2014 8:50 p.m.

Nathan Fillion! Everyone has come to terms with him being too old to play all those young Nathan Drake types, but Joel is a finely aged man who has to make the tough choices. Also, can you imagine Fillion with a beard? It would be super perfect. If you think about it, it's like Naughty Dog heard how everyone was sad that Fillion was too old to play Drake in a movie, so they made The Last of Us with an older protagonist. This would be the unorthodox choice because normally Fillion takes on characters that are very suave and witty, while Joel is tense and gritty, but that's actually what makes it even better because you'll get to see a completely different side of him compared to what everyone's used to loving him in.

Tom Hanks could play the part. Seriously is there any role he can't do? He's done every thing from a mentally challenged man, to a soldier on the battlefield. The guy is truly a master of his craft.

I heard Tom Hanks is going to be playing Obama soon, some bio-pic, cant remember when it's comimg out, I'm psyched.

Tom Hanks in black face. I'm sure it'll be another Oscar award winning performance. I can't wait.

George Clooney represented as the fox from Fantastic Mr. Fox, directed by Woody Allen.

Sometimes the unexpected can do surprising things. With that said, Jim Carrey, he already proved how captivating he can be when serious, why the hell not?

If we're going unorthodox, I'm going with Zach Galifianakis. Instead of him playing a comical role, we get to see a serious Zach Galifianakis. Plus dat beard seems like it would work perfectly.

Hmmmmm to answer question of the week, I would like Jared Butler to portray Joel in The Last of Us because he was Leonidas in 300, plus they look very similar. Also thank you Lucas for that mental image of you not washing your legs in the shower. Also what happened to Lucas on Tuesday, there was no live-stream!!! Also we need Greg to do the community segment, must you guys butcher the community growl every-time he's not here. I loved the best games lists you guys did, excellent job :)

I hope Lucas at least credit card swipes himself in the shower.
  • Tranquilbez34 - March 7, 2014 5:08 p.m.

I would cast Josh Brolin as Joel in The Last Of Us movie. Mainly because he can play the unorthodox hero very well and he can grow a pretty decent beard.
