Game of Thrones: Genesis developer Cyanide has released a batch of shots for its upcoming Of Orcs and Men. Produced in partnership with Faery: Legend of Avalon developer Spiders, the game is Cyanide's first shot at bringing a large-scale new IP to the fantasy RPG arena. The game's hook rests on a simple perspective shift: those big green guys? That's you and your crew. The little pink dorks with the swords and armor? Those bastards are the enemy.

Zooming in on the strategy-oriented play offered by Cyanide titles such as Blood Bowl and Game of Thrones: Genesis, Of Orcs and Men offers a more linear RPG saga. The game follows your Orc hero and his Goblin sidekick deep behind enemy lines on their quest to end years of pink-on-green oppression by assassinating the human Emperor. It's always intriguing to take a look through the other side's eyes – particularly if the other side is a grunting, ten-foot tall monster. Besides, who doesn't have those days when a bit of righteous human-clobbering would be just the ticket? All of which means we'll be keeping an eye on Of Orcs and Men in the leadup to its 2012 release.

May have to keep an eye on this one. Human clobbering would be my favorite pasttime if it were, you know, legal.

That sounds right up my alley. Whenever possible I always play as an Orc (Morrowind, Oblivion, my short stint in WoW, etc.). Hopefully the game turns out good. On a different note, apparently reCaptcha now wants me to type out algebraic formulas. No thanks, I'll just reload until I get something resembling words.
