Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio for westerners) is the next Dreamcast classic to receive an HD upgrade. Today, Sega announced its street art adventure will return as a download on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC digital download stores as soon as this summer.
The high-definition revamp (which was all but announced last week) will usher in the return of Beat and his “Graffiti Gang Gangsters” (aka GGs) in a skating game that challenges players to paint the districts of Tokyo-to in colorful tags while avoiding street gangs and a corrupted police force. Familiar taggers like Professor K, Gum, and Tab will, of course, come along for the ride.
To celebrate the return of its “rudies”, Sega will be selecting 18 fan-made graffiti designs to feature in the Jet Set Radio re-release. The design contest is open to North American and UK artists, and winners will receive a prize pack containing a Etón Rukus solar-powered Bluetooth sound system, Jet Set Radio hoodie, and other branded swag. Read the full competition rules on Sega's official contest site.
