Ubisoft has released a new Splinter Cell Blacklist trailer showcasing the game's co-operative offering. Integrated into the narrative and accessible through the campaign's Paladin hub, co-op missions see Sam Fisher joined by rookie Fourth Echelon spy Isaac Briggs in stealth operations set in locations like dark missile plants and outdoor maps in broad daylight. The publisher says co-op will offer four mission types and 14 maps, while also supporting split-screen play. “Help your teammate access parts of the maps you couldn’t access on your own, create your own tactics depending on your play style and watch each other’s back as you complete missions.”
Ubisoft also recently took the wraps off Blacklist’s Spies vs. Mercs component. In the 2-on-2 classic mode, players are outfitted with limited equipment, dropped in a shadowy map, and tasked with hacking (or defending) multiple data terminals. The updated 4-on-4 Blacklist mode introduces new equipment and abilities, as well as a progressive weapon and equipment unlock system. Check it out in this Spies vs. Mercs trailer.
Last month, Ubisoft announced that a Wii U version of the game will launch on the previously confirmed Xbox 360, PS3 and PC Splinter Cell Blacklist release date of August 20 in the US, August 22 in Europe and August 23 in the UK. We played through the title’s early levels in January and you can read our impressions in this Splinter Cell Blacklist preview.
