The super-fast gaming news weekend catch-up video: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and more

The world of gaming never sleeps. It just keeps going like a thing that is always awake. Even at weekends. Which is why we have this occasionally regular Monday morning catch-up video in which we journal the weekend's most interesting gaming news in a speedy-yet-informative style of cursory reportage. On this particularly fine Monday AM we have news of hacking in the Battlefield 3 beta, suspicions of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, FIFA 12 doing what FIFA traditionally does in the UK game charts and PS2 games coming to PSN. Do not delay another minute. Inform yourself of things by watching the video now.

What if the online pass is the same as the Cerberus pass from ME2, and gives you extra characters/side-quests? It's not necessarily multiplayer. Just saying, like...

Tuned in for the info on ME3, couldn't really understand what was being said though. I must be too American to comprehend. Sorry. That or my brain was trying its damnedest to not become aware of a Mass Effect multiplayer. Of course, that ended up not working because the boyfriend showed me a link that came with a picture that showed that the box said it included an online pass. *sigh*

My cat was sitting right next to me when I watched this! :( Luckily, I don't even play the Battlefield 3 beta on PC

The echo in that room makes it quite hard to hear, especially when two people talk at once. Also the video is sponsored by Forza 4, I look forward to the balanced review, ha.

You've not heard of Ring Of Red??????? Probably true, but I enjoyed it in a alternate history very japanese turn based way.

Fifa's replaced Gears 3? Absolute Travesty. Bought by the same people who shell out £40 every year for the same CoD game re-skinned. And that had better have been a reveal for GRUK #1 at the end.

Judging by the way Nath says "Oh no we don't do those anymore" when he says "and that's the end of another podcast" it doesn't look like we'll be getting another TRUK podcast again :(

It's good news to hear that PS 2 games are coming to the PSN. Ivge also wanted to play God Hand but never got around to playing it on the PS 2. I hope Second Sight comes to the PSN as well. That was an underrated masterpiece.

at around 1:50, dave stares warmly and deeply into the audiences eyes, into my soul. He starts talking about the BF3 Beta being hacked. I rase a finger to his soft lips. "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" I whisper. "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
  • mijetman - October 3, 2011 5:01 a.m.

  • Plan10FromOuterSpace - October 3, 2011 4:27 a.m.

So how do I play battlefield 3 with 128 players? because that sounds fun and who needs Origin when I have Steam...
  • CaptCOMMANDO - October 3, 2011 4:19 a.m.

Mass Effect multiplayer?! Oh why Bioware!?
  • Plan10FromOuterSpace - October 3, 2011 3:47 p.m.

I agree, as EA are the publishers though they'll want to ensure the online pass is essential to fully play the game. Thats my theory anyway, im pretty sure we wont see EA publish many offline games anymore....

I really don't like it when games like Mass Effect suddenly throw in Multiplayer. It's frequently not very good, empties out super fast, and even if they aren't the most important thing, multiplayer often takes up at least a fourth of the achievements, and those could be put to better use with fun stuff to do with the main game. On the note of achievements, it would be nice if they went to the ME1 style achievements again where you actually got some sort of in game benefit for every achievement earned. It gave a real reason to go for them instead of just a few points of gamerscore.
