Final Fantasy characters have always dressed a bit... oddly. But we never expected to see them modeling real-life Prada. Especially not from the most recent Spring/Summer 2012 collection. But that's exactly what's happened, as you can see from the gallery up there. Prada has teamed up with Square-Enix to make Tetsuya Nomura's characters look ultra-sharp and fashionable, celebrating the series' 25th anniversary. Well, that's the idea. They look a bit silly if you ask us. Like someone's little sister got hold of their prized figurines while they weren't looking, kupo.

The pictures appeared in Arena Homme+ magazine and were developed by Square-Enix's Visual Works studio in Japan. Yoshinori Kitase, producer of FFX XIII-2 and all-round Final Fantasy legend said: "The Final Fantasy series is known for its creativity and innovation; so working with Prada, a renowned fashion house with such beautiful clothing, was a very exciting opportunity. The images we have been able to create together are vibrant and unique."

Vibrant? Unique? These images are indeed both of those things, but not quite the words we would have used. If ever there was evidence for the need of an equivalent human rights movement for video game characters, this is it.

    Wow I don't know whether to be impressed (especially for Sazh) or awkwardly terrified (except for Sazh). I think I'll choose the latter.

    Yup, Sazh is the only one that comes out not looking ridiculous. Maybe it's because he's the only character that looks like an actual human and not a mannequin.

    Yeah, the rest look pretty stupid in those outfits. But Good ol' Man Sazh knows how to rock that suit.

    I'm sorry but you can tell its a human model with a CGI head and it looks rather disconcerting to say the least.... But Sazh really does rock that outfit :P

    What is this, I don't even.... I know they commissioned a popular Japanese (European?) brand to design Noctis' formalware, granted for the sake of that being the "reality based" FF. This is just... Stop with the "Oh what if they were wearing THIS popular character's costume" attire! The verdict: Lightning: Domestic abuser/alcoholic Noel: I would punch anyone I came across on the street looking like that. Sazh: That's a hip cat if I ever saw one. Hope: Really? Those khakis make him look like my grandpa (bless his soul.) A Caius one probably would've been a riot to see, Serah probably jus disappointing. She can stay in that swimsuit year-round and outclass all these tools.

    This is the peak of superfluousness.... Yet I can't help but think it's kinda cool. But then...I do spend most of my money these days on over-priced clothes. Mario, darling, dungarees are soooo 1980s....

    Most of them are atrocious, but the Sazh one actually looks pretty good.

    Honestly I think for somereason if I ever buy dlc costumes for a game it would be these.
