Battle vs Chess video makes chess exciting?

Chess may not need all this fanciness, but it sure doesn't hurt

Battle vs Chess promises to expand on regular chess in so many ways they’re almost uncountable. Aside from mixing up chess rules and injecting RPG elements, there are also puzzle games aplenty. Of course, none of that would matter if the game was boring to look at, and based on the latest trailer, it’s easy on the eyes for sure.

 

Things to note: a glimpse of a gorgeous series of floating islands overflowing with waterfalls, some beatdowns with serious flair (magic swords, bolts of energy, cascades of fire), and some majestic battlefields. We didn’t see any of the puzzle modes like the gem-collecting or the Bomberman mode, but then those aren’t as pretty to show in a video.

    Xcelsior1 - indeed I do, had the first one on an amiga 500....was quite a lot of fun with the random humour added into the game - some of the animations were hilarious :D same thoughts as a few other peeps - i'd be quite interested in picking this up as a downloadable arcade title perhaps, but there is no way this justifies being a full release...especially after seeing the quality of some of the games that have come out recently on xbl

    Does anybody else remember the old PC Battle Chess 1 & 2? With the "vs" interjected in there, I feel the creators do. Hope this has a sense of humour like the old ones. Nothing like watching an enemies knight hopping around on one foot a la Monty Python before losing that one as well ...

    The chess shown in the Halo Reach April Fools video is better.
