If you were looking for an excuse to pop Red Dead Redemption back in, Rockstar has just given it to you. Today marks the release of the Myths & Mavericks downloadable content, which adds a number of new multiplayer maps and characters to choose from. Oh, and it’s free. Totally, absolutely, positively free.
The new characters are pulled from the game’s single-player story, and include Landon Ricketts, Deputies Eli and Jonah, Mexican Army Captain Vincente de Santa, outlaw Javier Escuella, rancher Drew MacFarlane, Native American informant Nastas, and John Marston's weathered old ranch hand Uncle.
The bulk of the content comes in the form of new multiplayer areas, as well as some additional game modes for pre-existing levels. Fan-favorites Armadillo, Chuparosa, Rio Bravo, and Tumbleweed have all been given some additional love, and ten completely new locations have been added as well. The list is below, as is a gallery of images showing off the new areas and characters.
Rockstar has also announced that the September 23 Red Dead Redemption multiplayer event will be focused on the Myths & Mavericks DLC, so be sure you’ve picked it up if you’re interested in getting involved in some good, old fashioned shootouts.
