God of War 3 remains one of the best-looking games on PS3, but it it's about to get even prettier. Sony's announced that it will bring the concluding chapter to Kratos' tale of bloody vengeance to PlayStation 4 in God of War 3: Remastered.
Sony Santa Monica, God of War 3's original developer, is sprucing up the game for re-release on July 14 in North America and July 17 in the UK. It will feature "stunning graphics" and 1080p resolution throughout, and you'll be able to capture and share it all with a new photo mode. You can click through the images above to take a look.
The original God of War 3, released back in 2010, ran at 720p and was gorgeous - as gorgeous as a game in which you rip a god's head off with your bare hands can be, anyway - so I'm excited to see what kind of new graphical polish the PS4 version will layer on.
Cory Barlog, who directed God of War 2 and wrote the script for God of War 3, ended the announcement with a brief tease about the series' future: "Should we toast to another ten years? Will there be another ten years? Hmm..."
Barlog rejoined Sony Santa Monica in 2013, and has kept pretty quiet about what his team in the studio is working on since then. Remastering God of War 3 for PS4 would be a pretty good warm-up for creating a whole new God of War. Just saying.
