Sega has confirmed it will be porting Japan's Yakuza: Of the End game to western markets under a new handle, Yakuza: Dead Souls. The title will be released as a PS3 exclusive and contain the full game, DLC, and a bonus slot machine game called Pachislot.

“We know how much people love Yakuza in the West and with Dead Souls being the latest and greatest in the franchise, it is only right we bring it to them closer to the Japanese release than ever,” said Gary Knight, Sega's senior VP of marketing in today's announcement.

Yakuza Of the End (soon to be Dead Souls) was originally released in Japan this June as a zombified spin-off of the Yakuza series of crime games. The title takes place amidst a zombie outbreak in Japan's seedy Kabukicho district, and is the first game in the Yakuza franchise to feature gunplay as a primary means of combat. Playable characters include Yakuza series' main man Kazuma Kiryu, Shimano liutenant Goro Majima, Yakuza 2's Ryuji Goda, and hostess club owner Shun Akiyama.

Yakuka: Dead Souls will land on North American and European shores in March 2012.

I've never played a Yakuza game (always wanted to but I figured I should start with the first, and I can never find it) but it seems to me the only reason they want to get this to the west ASAP is to give people more zombie games, as if we need any...I'm not saying this game won't be good, just that it seems their priorities are a little out of order since they didn't appear to be all that much in a hurry to localize the other Yakuza games.

Dyne's gun was on his left arm, so this is Barrett.

Kudos, my friend you're spot on... However, if we're being picky: Barrett is black, that dude is Japanese and they're both fictional characters from separate franchises... but no one wants to be that picky Now I'm off to the Pub... your profile name makes me thirsty for Guinness

I wasn't aware of how many Yakuza games there are! I just wanted to say that I wish they didn't take the name "Dead Souls" because that would've been a freakin' sweet title for "Demon's Souls 3." Oh, sorry! I mean, Dark Soul's spiritual succesor...

FROM SOFTWARE should TOTALLY sue them for daring to call it like that! Seriously, if bethesda did it for far less... >_>
