Max Payne could probably hold his own
with a pair of fists and a shot of whiskey, but something tells us
fans wouldn't take kindly to paying $60 for the chance to slo-mo
punch their way through Max Payne 3. Knowing this, Rockstar has armed
the bald bodyguard to the teeth for his upcoming sequel, and now you
can get up close and personal with Max Payne's 608 Bull in the
studio's first weapon preview:
According to the new Max Payne 3 website, the 608 Bull is a large frame revolver that accommodates
eight rounds of “staggering firepower that can be shot very
accurately over short distances”. The 608
Bull can be pilfered from the bodies of paramilitary opponents like
the U.F.E, and duel wielded for double the fun.
The site also contains a 360 render of
the 608 Bull revolver, plus a few screenshots of
the heavy-hitter in action (see our gallery below). Equally detailed
rundowns of the game's characters and gangs can also be found, with
even more media and gameplay previews set to arrive before the game's
release on May 15 in North America, and May 18 in the UK.
In the meantime, learn more about Max
Payne's arsenal in our very own Rockstar interview.
Max Payne just gains a few points in my book. It's been a long time since any game has done the 'give it a similar name and call it a day' bit of flattery rather than handing over suitcases full of money to use a name, makes me all nostalgic for the days of racing Ferruchi 306 Ravennas and plugging generic baddies lugging around KR-58s.
"608 Bull" indeed...sounds like the manufacturer wouldn't part with a chance for some free advertising, or the devs figured they couldn't afford to use the name even if they were. The Model 608 is Taurus' new-for-this-year, large frame, 8-pot .357 Magnum...and is the wicked hand cannon to end all wicked hand cannons, at least until someone manufactures the guns wielded by Vash the Stampede or Hellsing's Alucard.
