Remember when Sony made that Jak & Daxter HD thing kinda-sorta official? Well, now they've made it super duper official. Today, Sony has lifted the curtain on Jak and Daxter Collection. The PlayStation 3 exclusive (duh) will feature the duo's first three adventures, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3, all bumped up to 720p.
Each title is being remastered by Mass Media, a development studio with a 20-year history of remaking and reworking games. Looking back through their list of titles they've touched just about every console, bringing The Lost Vikings to the Game Boy Advance, Full Spectrum Warrior to the PlayStation 2, and StarCraft to... ew, they made that StarCraft N64 game? Well, we'll go ahead and skip over that one...
Sony said that Mass Media is working closely with Naughty Dog on this new version, which will to provide 720p HD visuals, stereoscopic 3D functionality, trophy support, and "more." What's "more"? We have absolutely no idea, but we wouldn't be surprised if some sort of Move mini-games worked their way into the game, as they did with the Sly HD Collection.
The Collection is due out in February. There's a gallery of screenshots below of the upgrade, and it does look quite good. Not as good as the Shadow of the Colossus/ICO Collection, but, you know, still pretty nice looking for anyone looking for an excuse to jump into Naughty Dog's post-Crash Bandicoot, pre-Uncharted series.
