Spurious Awards Of The Week

Weeping Angels, Doctor Who breaks America big time, kinky Mary Poppins, Merlin’s worst slash-baiting attempt and loads, loads more

CREEPIEST VIDEO GAME OF THE WEEK

Don’t blink!

.

.

We know that Merlin is a hotbed of slash-baiting material, but come on, this is getting ridiculous. Oh, and while we’re on the subject of Merlin

.

Anyone else briefly wonder whose castle this was until it suddenly dawned that Camelot appears to have undergone some renovation between seasons?

.

So, Sanctuary ’s back and Magnus finds herself trapped in Victorian England (or the set of Oliver! , it’s difficult to tell which). Dr Watson tells her that she needs to dress in something more appropriate so that she’ll blend in. So what does she choose? Something that makes her look like a gimp version of Mary Poppins – exactly what all genteel ladies of the 1800s would be seen in. And while we’re talking about Sanctuary

.

Hang on! Did Adam really say, “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?” to Magnus ? He does realise she’s a woman?

.

This week’s UK episode of The Secret Circle opened with a girl who couldn’t get into her school locker. Can this show get any more thrilling?

Fringe ’s Walter has got no chance of finding Nemo in that aquarium.

ZOMBIE ROCK VIDEO OF THE WEEK

A song called “I Don’t Want To Die A Virgin” by a band called Young Beautiful In A Hurry may not sound very SFX . But then you notice the director of the video – Battlestar Galactica music man Bear McCreary. Then you notice his wife Raya Yarbrough in the video… she used to provide vocals for music used in Battlestar Galactica . That still a bit tenuous for you? Okay then… what about the zombie carnage?

.

So who did the blow up the TARDIS?

.

Well, it’s certainly a different way to promote Arkham City

We don’t want to put a downer on your day, but pity the poor alternate universe where Joel Schumacher got his way and his next Batman film after Forever would have been The Dark Knight. Or more probably The Day-Glo Knight With Rubber Nipples And A Penchant For Excrutiating Puns . “I think I’m the most envious of Chris Nolan because he got to do The Dark Knight ,” Schumacher tells IFC.com . “And that’s the one I begged to do as my second Batman film. I wanted to do a whole other thing, because we had kind of re-invented the franchise with Val as Batman and it was a very young, sexy, and much less expensive movie. We brought in Robin and I wanted to make The Dark Knight desperately, but the studio didn’t want that and it’s their money and they’re my bosses.” Sometimes, we should be thankful to those Hollywood suits. Schumacher also wins the SELF-DELUSION OF THE WEEK award: “For me, Val Kilmer was the best Batman. I thought he looked great in the costume, and I thought he brought a depth to the role. I thought the relationship between Val and Nicole Kidman was very sexy.”
