Lords of Shadow success surprised MercurySteam, now they want Contra

MercurySteam, the developer of theamazing3D Castlevania title, Lords of Shadow made some very interestingcommentsrecently in which they admit LoS's DLC was pretty bad.

According to the developer, the success of Lords of Shadow took them and their management completely off guard. Which is why they were unprepared when the suits came around asking them to develop DLC. As a result, the DLC was rushed and low-quality, which David Cox (producer at MercurySteam) described as a "mistake."

More interestingly, the studio is already looking past its tenure on the Castlevania series."Well, I think it's about wanting to leave a legacy," Cox said to VG247. "And I don't want to be in charge of a series that perhaps over a certain time is going to decline. I'd rather go out with a bang and leave that as our legacy in the Castlevania universe."

Cox elaborated further, talking a bit about what he'd like to work on next. "I love Contra," he said. "I'd love to do Contra. At Mercury Steam we've got an original idea that I think is really awesome. We'd love to bring that idea to market and I'm hoping that the success ofLords of Shadow 2 will allow us to do that."

Now everybody go pre-order Lords of Shadow 2 and Mirror of Faith. Now. We want a MercurySteam developed Contra reboot in the worst way.
