Trine 3 bursts into 3D action/puzzle platforming

Third game, three dimensions. It's only natural. Developer Frozenbyte has revealed Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power with an appropriately vibrant new trailer, showing the familiar trio of heroes in a less familiar perspective.

The thief, knight, and wizard get into the same sort of grand fantasy adventures they embarked on in the last two games, complete with physics puzzles, plenty of environmental hazards, and creatures big and small to battle. But it appears that many scenes will shift the camera from Trine's typical side-scrolling perspective, allowing players a full 3D range of motion.

Little more has been revealed so far, but it seems safe to assume that, much like the previous games, Trine 3 will be playable alone by swapping between heroes or in up to three-player co-op.

Frozenbyte plans to release it some time in 2015 on PC, with other platforms to be announced. Both Trine and Trine 2 released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Wii U, in one form or another.
