The next Bond movie currently has no director attached, and we've no idea if Daniel Craig intends to carry on as 007. When you factor in the lacklustre response to Spectre as well, could we be looking at the death of the franchise? Of course not. Nothing's going to stop EON, the production team behind the series, from pushing on with Bond 25. In a new interview, associate producer Gregg Wilson reveals that early development is already underway.
“We’ve just begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie”, Wilson tells Norwegian film site filmweb.no, “Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question ‘what is the world afraid of now?’ In the case of Spectre the theme was global monitoring and utilisation of information. So now we are trying to find out what will be relevant in the coming years”.
"We always want to do something new with the Bond character," he adds, "and see him in situations we have not seen him in the past. We must give the audience something new every time...often it helps to go back to Ian Fleming's novels for inspiration, whether you're talking about grades or mood." Yeah, the Google translate is a bit iffy on that last one, but it still gives us a general sense of the direction Bond 25 will be taking. The most intriguing tidbit? He's "pretty sure" Craig will return.
