Do all films save their best stuff for the Superbowl?
On the evidence of the new look at M Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender , the answer’s a resounding yes.
UGO have a copy of the new ad, which turned up on online yesterday. We’ve popped it at the bottom of this story, ‘cos we’re nice like that.
As Shyamalan’s first film after the disastrous The Happening (in which, fatally, nothing really happened), it seems Airbender is a marked departure from the filmmaker’s usual style.
More subtle, ticking time bomb efforts like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable (a TF fave) are well and truly forgotten here, lost in Airbenders ’ slick special effects and all-out action scenes.
Will it actually rock? Too soon to tell if Shyamalan can pair a decent script with that eye candy. But, visually, it's a stunner.
The film’s set in a world where civilisation has been divided into four elemental nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
As the Fire Nation wages war after war, Aang (Noah Ringer), the titular Airbender, must use his ability to combine all four elements to bring an end to the battles.
