Martin Scorsese has finally locked down the details to make Silence his next film – and he’s rounded up Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro to star.
Silence sees two Jesuit priests travelling to Japan in the 17th century who face persecution and violence when they try to spread the gospel.
It’s something of a labour of love for Marty, who has been trying to get the adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s novel onto the screen for more than 10 years.
Jay Cocks has penned the script, which might also nab Gael Garcia Bernal.
If Bernal signs, he and the others will be off to New Zealand later in the year to shoot.
