Aaron Eckhart to star in I, Frankenstein

Lionsgate have announced that Aaron Eckhart will lead their adaption of Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel I, Frankenstein .

The Dark Knight and Battle: Los Angeles actor Eckhart will play 'Adam', Frankenstein's monster who has survived to the present day.

He then finds himself caught up in a battle between two immortal clans. Presumably the role will see Eckhart encasing his intimidatingly handsome face in prosthetics.

Writer/director Stuart Beattie ( Tomorrow, When The War Began ), said "Mary Shelley’s story is about the creation of the first human being. This is the story about that being becoming human."

Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake said "This story is all about what it means to be human, and there could be no more achingly human performance than the one Aaron gave in our own Rabbit Hole . We are so excited to see what he will bring to this role."

Eckhart is a fine actor; will he able to bring gravitas to a story that sounds more than a little silly?

I, Frankenstein is set to open some time next year.
