Rumour: David S. Goyer pitching a Sandman movie to Warner Bros.

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic-book series has long been ripe for a big-screen adaptation, and it seems as though David S. Goyer fancies himself as the man to make it happen.

Badass Digest reports that the screenwriter has pitched a Sandman adaptation to Warner Bros, with the studio “very receptive” to his ideas.

The comic book focuses upon a character named Morpheus, who represents the personification of dreams. Having been held captive by a cult for some 70 years, he finally returns to his dream kingdom, only to find it in a state of disarray…

The report goes on to claim that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been earmarked by Goyer for the leading role, casting that should appeal to the studio, particularly in the wake of The Dark Knight Rises .

Goyer also has plenty of credit over at Warners, and although this one is far from a done deal at this stage, don’t be surprised to see a Sandman adaptation officially announced in the new year.
