Another '90s property that's being dragged out of retirement and back into circulation has gained some much-needed forward momentum, as Variety reports this week that Ellen Page is in talks to join the Flatliners remake.
Joel Schumacher's original 1990 movie starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon as meddlesome medical students who happen upon a cunning idea to stop their hearts in order to experience the afterlife. Effectively, they 'flatline' and during that crucial period between life and death they explore whatever lies beyond... and it's not particularly nice.
The involvement of Page, who's reportedly in line for Roberts' role, is the first news on the project since development began in 2013. Source Code scribe Ben Ripley is still attached to pen the screenplay that will be shepherded to the screen by Girl With The Dragon Tattoo helmer Niels Arden Oplev. There's currently no specific production start or release date scheduled for Flatliners, but if its slow return to life is any indication, we could be waiting a while for this to hit screens.
