Philip Seymour Hoffman had one major scene left to film for The Hunger Games

Earlier this week it was reported that the late Philip Seymour Hoffman still had some nine days of shooting left to complete on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay , news that put a question mark over how the series would tie together.

Now, a Lionsgate executive has clarified the situation to THR , claiming that Hoffman had only “one major, emotional scene” left to shoot before his tragic death.

“We’re going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole,” says the source. “His performances in both [ remaining ] movies will be up to the best of his craft. We feel it will be a good tribute to him.”

As for how those issues might be resolved, “you can do digital things, you can have conversations where you’re not focusing on him but the people he’s talking to.”

Mockingjay - Part 1 will open in the UK on 21 November 2014, with the second instalment following on 20 November 2015.
