Scooby-Doo's back, with a new movie coming in 2018

Warner Bros. is about to dust off the Mystery Machine and round up those pesky kids, with the studio announcing plans for a new Scooby-Doo movie in 2018. This time around however, things will be staying strictly animated, without a live-action sequence in sight.

Emmy-winning animation hero Tony Cervone will be taking the helm on the new film, having directed this year’s direct-to-video outing Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock And Roll Mystery. Matt Lieberman has apparently produced a script, although no plot details have been revealed at this stage.

Warner isn’t entirely turning its back on the previous live-action outings, with the producers of those films, Charles Roven and Richard Suckle back on board for this one. However, it is understood that the studio is hoping to kick-start a brand new take on the franchise, with potential sequels planned should this next outing prove successful. Sinister-looking janitors… consider yourselves on notice.
