Sibling rivalry is served ice cold in The Huntsman: Winter's War trailer

In its latest trailer The Huntsman: Winter's War is pegged as both a prequel and sequel to Snow White And The Huntsman. It's an ambitious proposition, especially since nobody expected the 2012 outing to spawn a new franchise. But here we are, with a very plot-heavy preview for a film that appears much more playful than its predecessor.

Journeying into the tragic backstory of Freya (Emily Blunt), it's revealed that her reign of terror is down to a spot of murder carried out by her sister Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). Who doesn't love a fairy tale re-imagined as a grim display of sibling rivalry? Where the previous trailer alerted us to their shared plan of wreaking havoc, we now get to see the horror of the sisters' conflicted history. Watching Freya embrace her icy gift is a particular highlight.

Anyone else think Theron would make an excellent T-1000?

Directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and starring Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain and Nick Frost, The Huntsman: Winter's War opens in the UK on April 8, and the US on April 22.
